Giana had her 9 month doctor's appointment this past friday. She had no shots this time-phew! The pediatrician told Jared and me that at this age, Giana understands our language way more than we think she does. Obviously, her language is just babbles but she understands when we say: "Look! Daddy is home!" This week I had a couple of friends over for lunch. I have a little kiddie pool for Giana and her "little" friends to play in. While the kiddos were playing in the pool, my friend Noelle was doing a fishy face to Giana. It was hilarious when Giana tried to copy the fishy face back! Giana mimicking Noelle reminded me that Giana is watching Jared and me all the time. Children are like sponges-they soak in everything they see and hear. Sometimes I forget I have little eyes on me at all times. That fishy face was a reminder to me of how important it is for me to model a Christ-like character to my little munchkin. I love these verses that talk about teaching God's love to our children.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
